Macmillan & National Garden Scheme
Latest News July 2026

It was our absolute pleasure during July to host both Macmillan Cancer Support and National Garden Scheme at the Wellness Centre for their celebrations marking a milestone of £20,000,000 donated to Macmillan through the National Garden Schemes 'Open Gardens' programme.
As proud recipients of grants from both organisations, we were thrilled to be able to show how we have utilised funds to impact our local community. Including, showcasing our new Mindfulness area funded by Macmillan, in our ongoing Arches project. This area will be used by our partner Wellbeing practitioners, including our Yoga for Cancer group and our lovely playgroup.
A special thank you to Macmillan for gifting us a very special Macmillan Nurse rose, which has now been planted in this new space by our Chair Cheryl Scollay and National Garden Scheme Chief Exec, Dr Richard Claxon.

We were very pleased to welcome our local community to join us in celebrating the opening of our Arches garden on the 17th and 18th April.
We introduced to everyone our new Community Garden and Wellness Shed areas, as well as the plans for our future Mindfulness area.
It was also our pleasure to celebrate our Community Champions: Brian Lee, Christine Dempsey, Ed Gray and Jake Taylor. These individuals are key volunteers and supporters of the Wellness Centre and we are so grateful for their involvement.
Keep an eye on our website and social media for continued developments of our new outside space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our first fundraising event, held by our 2026 sponsors The Keys.
The event was sold out, with 100 people joining us for a fun night of games and charity.
Thanks to everyone, we were able to raise £2600! All proceeds from the night come straight back into Yarm Wellness, enabling us to continue our work supporting local people with practical help, welcoming spaces, and programmes that strengthen the wellbeing of our community.
We hope you can join us at future events.
